A man works as a machine operator in a textile factory. The company has a recurring problem with the quality of its thread, with yarn breakage and machine stoppages. The man has worked there for years and has developed a way to reduce the problems, but it’s only when a new CEO arrives and takes time to listen to her new employees, that the idea is discovered. ‘What a wonderful and simple idea,’ says the CEO.
‘How long have you known about this?’ ‘Thirty-two years,’ answers the man.
